Do you want to live forever?

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

Today is the beginning of our journey to the unknown. Together we will explore the possibilities of things that are yet to happen. We will keep our minds open because as we get to know the unknown, we might come across some issues that may seem unbelievable at first glance. We will try to identify the truth from lies. We will give our best effort to understand things that may probably be clear only to the experts. We will try to see if we can understand it from a layman’s perspective. Let’s begin with the first step.

“The journey to a thousand miles begins with a single step” - Lao Tzu

Who among us does not fear death? Either of our own or our loved ones’? Don’t we all get scared when we think about it? No one can escape death. We have already lost a lot of famous people in the past. A lot of popular scientists are long gone. Albert Einstein, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and the latest was Stephen Hawking and many more. All of these people have massive contributions to how our world has become, yet they were not able to save themselves from death.

Even the rich and famous are not free from death. Some of them were very popular celebrities like Whitney Houston, Paul Walker, Elvis Presley, and yes, who would forget the legendary Michael Jackson? Some of us, if not all, have also lost at least a loved one. I’ve lost my father years back, and for all of us who had to go through the grief, it was always the most painful feeling a human being could ever have.

As time goes by, we will continue to see people going away to the other side. That is something no one can avoid. Or could we? Did you know that there are now studies and experiments going on to obtain immortality? They call it “Digital Immortality”. With the continuous advancements in technology, scientists, and experts, have been coming together to use their expertise to defy death and aging. There’s a very bold and daring prediction by credible futurologists that between the years 2045 to 2050, humans could have already achieved immortality.

There are many ways that they are trying to make it happen. A credible futurologist called Dr. Ian Pearson said that we may be able to achieve saving our mind into the cloud and have robots as hosts when our physical body can no longer exist. He was very bold in his prediction that it may happen by 2050.

Ray Kurzweil, an inventor, on the other hand, said that maybe we could just dump our memories, thoughts, feelings, and everything else that makes us who we are into the computer and live in cyberspace. And if you look for it on the internet, you will find that there are just so many researches going on pointing out to the same goal - Immortality.

Unbelievable? Perhaps, for now, it is, but who knows what’s out there? Who knows if they are indeed coming true. The pursuit of immortality has started since the beginning of time. Perhaps, we’re almost there...
