Fast Forward to the Future

Updated: Oct 23, 2018

Hello there once again my beloved fellow travelers to the unknown! Today we will continue to understand how much to be ready for the future of the world turning completely technological. Yesterday, I've discussed the difference in the revolutions of technology between going backwards and going forward. Today, we will go further with our comparisons.

A futurist named Ray Kurzweil, whom I have already mentioned in one my posts before, calls the laws of human history as "Laws of Accelerating Returns". According to him, it is "the rate of change in a wide variety of evolutionary systems (including but not limited to the growth of technologies) tends to increase exponentially".

That means that more advanced societies have the ability to progress at a faster rate than the less advanced societies hence, if you are in the year 2000 and go back to the year 1982, you will notice that nothing much has changed since then but if you are in the year 2000 and go forward to the year 2018, you will be shocked with how much the world has changed. 18 years ago, there were no social media yet, no internet, no self driving cars, no AIs, no smartphones, no drones, no genetic engineering, no AR and VR, no tablets and the list goes on.

The comparisons I've just made of 18 years backwards and 18 years forward is probably not going to make you die in shock or reach the DPU (Die Progress Unit), but if you go fast forward farther let's say, to the year, 2050, 50 years from the year 2000, then you will most likely reach the DPU.

What am I trying to say here? We have to be ready for the progress of the world including the technological advancements that are going to happen in a much faster rate from now since we are already in a highly advanced society in the current time so the changes that will happen will be really really fast. We have to prepare ourselves and keep an open mind for things we probably have not imagined to happen but they will.

Human robots to walk with us on the streets, or maybe even us will have robotic parts already by then. Flying cars hovering above our roofs. Holograms while talking with someone over the phone. Cash will no longer exist because all transactions and payments will be done digitally. Cemeteries will turn into skyscrapers to serve as a storage for databases of uploaded minds. A second planet where humans can live may already have residents and yes, not to forget, a virtual world where half of the population may already have transferred by then and so much more advancements are on our way.

Impossible? No! It is possible. All those technologies I've mentioned above are already available and are already being worked on. Below is a graphical presentation of what our future world may look like as created by a futuristic artist named Brian Vagie. It does look awesome, right? With all these said, I want you to keep your minds open and be receptive because you definitely don't want to die in shock once all these start to happen right before your very eyes.

So there you have it ladies and gents. The future unfolds before you so be prepared and ready. They are coming our way. If you like today's post, please hit the heart button and drop me a word or two in the comment section. See you again tomorrow as we continue with our journey here. Until then, ciao'!
