Now, Onto the Pig's brain!

Hello there once again you wonderful curious people of the unknown world! Today as we continue with our journey, we will walk through yet another exciting episode that would blow your mind away and that is exactly what we are talking about this week - the mind and the brain so let's get going.

Last episode, I brought to you an experiment about the worm's mind. Today, I will bring to you another discovery in the field of science and technology that may still be unknown to you. The preservation of the brain which is pretty similar to cryopreservation which preserves the corpse by freezing but instead of freezing it, they use a chemical solution that can keep a body intact for hundreds of years, or maybe even thousands of years. They tried preserving a pig's brain to it and they did it so well that every synapse inside it could be seen with an electron microscope. Just see for yourself in the video below. Shockingly mind blowing huh?

But what could be the purpose of experiments like this? Apparently, they want to be able to preserve the human brains so that someday, the future scientists can scan it and turn it into a computer simulation. That way, someone a lot like you, though not exactly you, will smell the flowers again in a data server somewhere.

Believe it or not, there is a waiting list for this. The company, which is Nectome, is inviting volunteers to join the waiting list with a deposit of $10,000 which is fully refundable should you change your mind. So far, there are already 25 people in the list, including Sam Altman, a 32-year-old investor who believes that his brain will be digitized within his lifetime.

Okay, that made me think, if he believes that his brain will be digitized within his lifetime, why wait for his brain to be preserved before it's simulated into a computer? Why not just directly do it while he is alive? That way it's guaranteed fresh and functioning. But, you may ask, is there anything going on right now that can do that? Ahhh...that is what we are going to discover as we go along with our mission to unravel the unknown...
