The Different Types of Crypto Wallets (Part 1)

As promised, today we will unravel more about the technology of virtual currency wallets more commonly known as crypto wallets. We will describe them so that we can determine their differences. We will tackle where they are applicable and perhaps we will also discover some of their advantages. Any type of wallet is simply a combination of your private key and public address. For those who are new to cryptocurrencies, it is important that we know all about these things so let's go ahead and discover them.

The first one on the list is hardware wallets. As the name suggests, these are hardware devices built specifically for handling private keys and public addresses. It is a USB-like device with an OLED screen and side buttons to navigate through the interface of the wallet and comes with its native desktop apps for different cryptocurrencies. It is a battery-less device which you can connect to a PC or mobile device via USB even on an infected device. Then there are paper wallets but this one's not really for everyone because it's quite too technical and requires a very high level of caution from the user. Well, it's because as the world entails, you just have to print your private keys and public address in a paper literally hence, utmost level of caution is required lest losing the paper. The advantage of this is that it's done offline hence has been said to be a very secure way of storing your coins.

Another type of wallet are desktop wallets. These are installable software packs that are available for most of the desktop operating systems such as Mac, Windows, Linux. Any cryptocurrency that is serious about itself will launch their desktop versions of wallet on day one itself. But as it is your desktop or laptop that often connects to the internet, you need to follow the basic security measures such as antivirus and anti-malware software and a strong firewall.
